Roger Geach.

I first came to know Roger at Kings Cross on one Saturday morning in 1979 as we were observing the comings and goings of a busy London terminus.

I was still working 9-5 at Wimbledon rostering guards and Roger was working as a signalman at Broxbourne Junction where 37025 is seen on the left.

Roger became a good source of information of locomotive workings and assisted my evening travels on the Cambridge line. Whilst I have been more interested in travelling around on different trains and locomotives and class 37s in particular, Roger was always more interested in photographing the then railway scene and his various books published over the years attest to his ability.

Barry J Nicolle

I first knew Barry through the pages of Ian Allan combined Volumes with his well-known photographic contributions.

In 1981 I became personally acquainted when Barry was working at Cambridge and I at Liverpool St and then subsequently at Swindon.

As a photographer Barry is right out of the top drawer and i was very pleased to acquire his collection a few years ago when his focus shifted to breeding wildfowl, Barry does not do anything half-heartedly.

Michael Holmes

I first met Michael when I moved to Crewe in 1988 and we were both staying at the local YMCA before I found accommodation locally. Michael has always helped whenever possible with the photo stand at the various shows we have attended and always offers his photos for the collection too.

Paul Rothery

Paul contacted me several years ago when his collection of photos was overwhelming the space in his bungalow, and I offered to digitise his collection in return for using them in the collection to which Paul readily agreed, this I had done from 1981 - 1993 before the untimely arrival of the pandemic at which point, I sadly lost touch with Paul. I will continue with the succeeding years as time allows.

Martin Hall

I met Martin at one of the depot open days I attended with the Railimagecollections sales stand.
Subsequently Martin offered to contribute to the collection if I could digitise his negatives. this turned out to be a fairly vast undertaking which only got done by me giving Martin my previous scanner to speed up the process!

Bill Wright.

I was very lucky to have known Bill, I met him after being introduced by his good friend Lawrence with whom I had come to know whilst working at Liverpool st. control.
Bill was a very forward-thinking photographer who photographed everything without the usual disregard for modern traction from the 1960s onwards with decent equipment and a superb eye for a good picture.
On his passing I was indebted to his family for the gift of his collection, and it is all available here in posterity

Gavin Lake.

We have been friends for over 35 years, Gavin has always been a most accomplished photographer and after I had left the railway, we formed Railimagecollections and started attending depot and works open days selling our images both in 6x4 photos and colour slides.
In 2018 when Gavin had retired, I took over Railimagecollections completely allowing Gavin to pursue his other hobbies.

Erik Bullen.

Erik was one of my railimagecollections customers over a number of years and when he unexpectedly passed away his brother Ronnie offered me his photo collection at a reasonable price which I was very happy to acquire. Erik was a time clerk at Springs Branch depot, Wigan where 25322 is depicted here.

Les Riley.

Les was one of a group of friends including Erik Bullen, Danny Preston and David Cross that used to go out and about in the 1960s onwards and whilst researching Eriks photos I was in conversation with David Cross who advised me that Les Riley's collection had been passed onto Bob Kimmins and I was able to contact Bob through social media and arranged to digitise the collection in return for their use in the collection. I remain deeply indebted to Bob in this respect

John Turner.

I first came to know John when as an excited spotter just becoming interested in locomotive haulage, I used to stand at the end of platform 8/9 at Birmingham New St waiting for something interesting to appear. John would suggest you stuck around for the 1550 departure to Newcastle, 1E63 ,which was a fresh engine forward ex Saltley. 37xxx would often appear much to our delight , however nothing surpasses 1013 on 1E54 0730 Swansea to Leeds which it worked throughout on that famous day, returning on 1V94 1432 Leeds to Plymouth.
John is a thoroughly decent man and recorded his travels around the country in great detail and quality.
